New Buy: Stila Palette

Hey everyone! I got a new palette called the Stila in the moment. I bough this palette at my local Sephora after seeing many recommendations about it.  I own the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and I absolutely love it, but I wanted to try some other eyeshadow palettes.

What I like about this palette is that it has many bright, Spring colors. It also comes with a no-smudge purple/gray eyeliner which I used on my eyelid with some nude colors. There are ten colors, so far I have only used five colors. My first impression was that the colors are very vibrant and I wasn't used to wearing such bright colors. I recommend using an eyeshadow primer before applying the eyeshadow so it doesn't fade or come off.

The palette is $39 US dollars and in my opinion is worth it. It's good for beginners because the shades together can create four or five different eyeshadow looks depending on the way you use it.  This is my second palette I have bought with my own money and it works. Don't be fooled by some high-end brands that sell eyeshadow palettes for more then $75 that say they are better (it's eyeshadow!). The Stila Palette is very good and eventually I will look into purchasing the other two.

The names of the colors are (from left to right):

On the inside of the cover it says this quote which I though was very nice.

OOTD - 4.24.14

Hi everyone! So I did another OOTD post because I felt like showing you all my clothes. I also did my makeup today, which I never really show on here. I have recently changed the amount of makeup I wear since it is getting warmer. Soon, I will do a post on my Spring Makeup Routine.  Today was mostly a lazy day because I am still on Spring Break and stayed in my pajamas until two in the afternoon. When I did get ready, this is what I wore.

(I just wrote a very long paragraph that was mostly pointless)

My outfit:

Pink Muscle T-shirt- Kohls $24
H&M Zippered Pants - $18-$22
Headband- Click here to see all about my headband
Juicy Couture Shoes - $75 (approximately)
Tommy Hilfiger Jacket - N/A (it was a gift)

For my makeup I went for a natural look that would hide my acne and make me look less tired.
I will do my makeup routine soon.

Until next post,

Earth Day

Hey everyone. Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is one day a year designated to reminding everyone that we need to take care of our Earth.  Have you ever heard of being green? This means that we need more green in this world by planting plants and trees. This Earth Day my friend and I got down into the dirt and planted ten different types of flowers, tomatoes, strawberries, basil, and peppers. We used two whole 40-pound bags of soil into about 12 different types of pots. It was a lot of fun and now we hope everything grows!

My friend, Emily, and I had a lot of fun even though it was really messy. We used many different types of seeds and now we are hoping they will grow so her and I that I will have a pretty garden.

During our planting session, we took a trip to Home Depot to get flowers and some already grown plants that weren't seeds. We also had to buy a 40-pound bag of soil to keep planting with. We bought small plants so that we wouldn't be only dependent on seeds. There were so many plants to choose from!

Ways to be more green:

1. Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
2.  Grow a vegetable garden, it is good for the environment and even better since you are growing them yourself.
3. Use products that won't hurt the o-zone layer or plants.
4. Recycle (even using household objects could be a good idea for a DIY)
5. Spend more time outside, it's better for your health.
6. Bring your own bag to the supermarket instead of using plastic bags.
7. Instead of taking the car everywhere, ride your bike,  take public transportation, or carpool with your friends.

This is a few of the pots from my new garden. In two of the pots are sunflowers, and butterfly attracting flowers. The pot in the center is a cherry tomato plant.

"Green thumbs, and black hands…"

What did you do for Earth Day? Starting a garden is a fun thing to do with friends and when everything grows you will have pretty flowers, and yummy vegetables.

Taylor Swift: Style Swap

Taylor Swift: Style Swap!
By: Sarah of Sincerely, Sarah D

If you would ask me to describe Taylor Swift’s personal style, I would probably say something along the lines of cute, feminine, and simple. She takes after the 1950’s classic look, with pearls and her signature red lip. In an exclusive yahoo shine interview, Taylor is quoted saying one of her fashion icons is Cyd Charisse, an actress from the 1940’s and 50’s. I personally love Taylor’s style because it is timeless and vintage, yet it still manages to look chic and fashionable. I took inspiration from her long, vintage-style skirts and dresses, pearl accessories, and bright red lip color when creating my Taylor Swift- inspired outfit.

Taylor’s outfits that I used as inspiration:

What I came up with:

This outfit personally reminds me of Taylor Swift’s style for many reasons. For one, I wore a knee-length, flowy skirt which is a staple in Swift’s wardrobe. The striped sweater has a very vintage look, and you can’t channel Taylor Swift without her signature pearls and bright red lip! I added my own flare of style with a polka dot headband, tying the look together!

How to Clean Makeup Brushes

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been on in four days, it has been a very hectic week. Have you ever had dirty makeup brushes and didn't know how to clean them? Well, that has happened to me many times. So, today I am going to show you step-by-step how to clean makeup brushes. It takes 10-15 minutes to do all your brushes depending on how many brushes you have.

Some websites say you need special liquid to clean your brushes. I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo to clean the brushes and it works very well.

First: Pour a little bit (the size of a dime) of the shampoo into your palm.

Second: Wet your brush slightly so the shampoo will mix with the water.

Third: Rub the damp brush into your palm where the shampoo is. Make quick circles in your palm with the brush until no more makeup is coming off of the brush or the shampoo is black.

Fourth: Rinse your brush of shampoo and makeup. Wait until all no more makeup is coming off the brush before dying.

Last: Dry your brush by patting it on a towel. Then, let it sit on the bowl to air dry before using it again.

Hope this helped :)

Wordless Wednesday 4/9/14

Quick Wordless Wednesday, 3rd week in a row! This week is an artsy photo I took when I was with my friend. There was graffiti on the bridge we were on so why not take a photo. I thought it was cool.

We tend to wear converse way too much, haha.

OOTD- 4.5.14 Miley Cyrus Concert

Hey everyone! I went to a Miley Cyrus Concert this past Saturday. I would have to say, it was so much fun. She was playing a few miles away from me so it was an easy commute. I will write about it soon, if you all want to hear about it. My outfit was perfect for the concert. Since it is still April I decided to not wear shorts but that didn't stop others from dressing just like Miley.

My outfit:

Brandy Melville Shirt - $15 dollars
Brandy Melville Bralette - $22 dollar
H&M Zippered Jeans - $18-25 dollars
Doc Martens- $120 dollars

"But, my dear, this is not Wonderland and you are not Alice"

My Doc Martens have made another appearance. You can say, I am obsessed with them.

Something must have caught my interest, lol.

The complete look.

You can see the bralette through my shirt which I thought was cute. It is stylish under sheer tops and Brandy Melville has a variety of backs and colors.

Doc Martens

Hey everyone! This post is about my Fall through Spring must have.  I got my Doc Martens in December for Christmas.  The boot style I got comes in two materials which are patent (leather), and matte (not shiny).  I love my black patent Docs.  The only thing I didn't like was how hard it was to break them in.  It took a few weeks to break them in, but once they are broken in they are super comfortable.  They are $120 dollars but they are a good investment.

My Doc Martens:

How I style Doc Martens:

For a more casual look, I pair my Docs with jeans or black leggings.  This would look good with an oversized sweater, flannels, or a crop top. Docs are more of a Fall, Winter, and Spring shoe because in the summer they might get to warm and sticky for your feet. If you look at my ootd I am wearing my docs with a dress and a blazer.  These are good for a more dressy occasion or a just casual everyday look.

I, myself, don't have the floral Docs  but I do love them. I wanted simple black ones for my first pair because its simple yet classy. The floral Docs I have seen on tumblr and some blogs. I think the floral Docs would look cute with black tights and a skirt.

These are some of the other colors that there are besides black. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner have the yellow Doc Martens. It's your own style and choice of which ones you want. I absolutely adore these shoes and might get another pair or two in the future.

Healthy Eating Project : Week 1

Hey everyone!   I decided that I am going to start a mini-blog series called the Healthy Eating Project. It is going to be 10 weeks.   This all the weeks leading up to Summer and two weeks into Summer. Each week I will post one healthy snack, smoothie, etc.   I love looking at people's blogs who have some healthy food up and it makes me want to have it or make it.   This is also a good way to keep up a schedule with blogging and having different ideas.   I'm excited!

So to kick off this mini series, I picked applesauce.   Since it is only the beginning of April, fruits aren't completely ripe such as Peaches, Plums, Apricots, Cherries, and Watermelon.   One thing that is in season since fall is apples!   I have had an overabundance of apples this winter but I still love applesauce.   I haven't had it in so long before I went to Trader Joe's. They honestly have the best applesauce.

Applesauce is a good fix for late night hunger.   It is sweet and the chunky is my favorite.   I got the big jar after seeing a Youtuber recommend it and I have been obsessed with it ever since.   If you are looking for a quick, easy, and healthy snack this is it.

Trader Joe's has cute things on their labels like this:

Got to have those nutrition facts :P

QOTD: What's your favorite quick snack?

Wordless Wednesday 4/2/14

This week's Wordless Wednesday is of my old dog, Charlie. This is when he was a small puppy. In 2004, he died at the age of 16 and was way bigger then he looked in this picture. Yesterday was his birthday. :)
